Cisco Partners with CILC for Connected Educators Program
Corporate News, Education, Public Sector, Collaborations
Collaboration technology is bringing today’s classrooms overseas as educators around the world are using new, creative ways to build immersive learning experiences. For example, it’s not uncommon today for families to hear about their children’s studies “outside” classroom walls through virtual field trips and meet-and-greets with remote speakers.
This advance in K-12 education, and the success of co-teaching, is why we created the Cisco Connected Educator program, a professional development program that equips educators with high-quality collaboration tools to use as they foster innovation and creativity in today's digital classrooms and across the education network.
Introducing the Connected Educators Program
At the heart of the program is Cisco’s partnership with the Center for Interactive Teaching and Learning and Collaboration (CILC), an organization that brings teachers and content providers together to deliver immersive, video-enabled learning experiences to students. CILC connects users with a range of Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) on key content and topic areas enabled by Cisco Webex.
The Cisco Connected Educators program provides badges for teachers, administrators and content providers who use Cisco technologies to augment teaching and learning, build new content and enhance administrative management. From Virtual Field Trip Teacher to Action Researcher and beyond, these badges cover all aspects of connected education and reward those who expand the range of digital teaching and learning. The badges are earned through documentation and the sharing of artifacts that share one’s scope of learning. Aligned with ISTE standards, the badges can also be used to demonstrate and validate district competencies.
By developing, and sharing, these new resources, this Cisco Connected Educators encourages relationships among a network of new educators, who can now foster best-practice sharing. This partnership with CILC is the next step for Cisco in pushing the boundaries of inclusive, effective and open K-12 education.
Cisco at ISTE
Join us at ISTE 2018 on Wednesday, June 27 from 1—2 p.m. CST to learn how the Cisco Connected Educator program works from Shawnee Mission School District. Along with Cisco subject matter experts, the school district will discuss its transition from “campus” to “global” activities and new focus on mobile learning.
