The Key to Survival: Digital Transformation
It’s an exciting and frightening time to be in retail – technology is dramatically changing the way consumers shop, and their expectations have never been higher. Retail has become the single most disrupted industry in just three short years. How can retailers succeed when things are changing so fast? Some retail brands are closing their brick and mortar stores at an unprecedented rate. Others are reinventing the customer experience and opening a new kind of store. The key to survival is digital transformation. These new stores use technology to put the power in the hands of the consumer, and provide an easy, efficient shopping experience resulting in increased sales. The same technology is increasing associate productivity and simplifying store operations, saving retailers money.
Big Ideas Session
At the 2018 National Retail Federation (NRF) show, you can experience one of these stores firsthand and learn how some of the most successful retailers in the industry transformed their business. Come to our “Big Ideas” session where you will hear from Guillermo Diaz, Cisco’s CIO, as he and some of Cisco’s most innovative customers discuss their progress along Cisco’s Digital Transformation Roadmap for Retail. You will be also able to see the capabilities in action at Cisco’s ToyBox, a fully-functional retail store located at booth 2052.
We created this store with our best-in-class partner ecosystem in less than four months. At NRF, you’ll be able to experience, with all of your senses, how digitization changes the retail experience. Using Apple iOS devices, ToyBox visitors can choose from two tours, experiencing the store from the perspective of either a shopper or an associate. The power of the Apple|Cisco co-engineered solutions will be on full display aligning to the key role mobility, device platform, and advanced architectures play in aligning apps, devices, network, and security to enhance the shopper experience, increase associate efficiencies and productivity, and optimize store operations.
Shoppers will be presented with a map of where items on their wish list are located in the store. As they shop, the ads they see will change in response to a list of items, offering related deals or replacement products for anything that is out of stock. On the associate tour, participants will be guided to the correct shelf for re-stocking and see how the inventory count has been updated in real time.
What you won’t see: the technology. It’s hidden behind the scenes and mostly invisible to users. Ask an expert at the “Endless Experts Tech Bar” to explain how it all works, or attend one of Cisco’s “Big Ideas” panels to find out how our customers started their digital journey.
What you’ll learn is that there is a lot happening under the hood to create this new retail experience. It starts with a robust, reliable, and secure network that allows retailers to adapt quickly to each new trend, regardless of how comfortable their customers are with technology. Imagine empowering associates to easily access information about your customers and products, and delighting those consumers who want a personal, face-to-face experience. Imagine showing millennials exactly where, in the store, to find the product they are looking for, in the correct size and color. And then letting them self-checkout with their mobile device. It’s happening now. Come experience it for yourself at the ToyBox.
Cisco has laid the groundwork for your digital transformation: the network, software, and services that make it all possible. We’ve done the work, built the relationships with our partners, and integrated the solutions. If you want to test it out, we’ve made sure it’s easy.
Still not sure where to start, or can’t make it to the show in New York? Download our retail survival guide e-Book or pick up a hard copy at our booth. “A Retail Thrive Guide: Preparing for the Consumer 2020” gives you five ways to thrive with today’s consumer, including an overview of what this consumer wants and expects from a shopping experience. It also contains a few different strategies for dealing with disruption, and Cisco’s Digital Retail Roadmap to help you figure out what will give you the most bang for your buck, no matter where you are in the digitization journey. And, you can read about some inspiring examples of how actual customers have transformed their customer experience through digitization.
If you are attending NRF, stop by the ToyBox in booth 2052 to pick up a copy, and maybe do a little shopping – we’ll have toys for kids of all ages, and after the show we will be donating the toys to four different local charities that focus on underprivileged, at-risk youth. If you want to learn more about the details of how real-life customers have successfully transformed their business, be sure to attend our “Big Ideas” panels:
